What is a sun tube?

A weatherproof dome on the roof catches daylight, even on an overcast day. A highly reflective tube carries that light down through the roof space, and a diffuser at the ceiling spreads it evenly through the room below. There is no wiring, no switch and no power bill. It simply works whenever the sun is up.
